Crash Windows 10 Pro when Hyper-V is enabled

2020-09-30, 14:44 PM

Hello!
I am using Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme gen2 model 20QV0007US.
I have upgraded Windows 10 Home to Pro , version 2004. build 19041.508.
Then I follow the instructions on the resource
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/virtualization/hyper-v-on-windows/quick-start/enable-hyper-v
turn on Hyper-V. The laptop restarts, and then Windows repair begins and rolls back to a working version.

After manipulating the BIOS, Secure Boot was disabled and the problem remained. When I disabled Secure Boot, there was an error that the TbtBusDrv.sys & USBxhci.sys driver failed.
Windows 10 Pro is updated and all the latest drivers are installed from the Lenovo manufacturer website.
Help me please!!!

Re:X1 Extreme gen2. Rollback Windows 10 Pro when Hyper-V is enabled

2020-09-30, 16:04 PM

Hi,

No clue here, but feeding your subject line to The Google turns up 1 post saying that KB4074588 wasn't installed and that was causing the rollback.  Worth a check, I suppose...

Re:Crash Windows 10 Pro when Hyper-V is enabled

FWIW, I have the exact same issue on my 20QV00C8US.  It is as-built with the exception of two  1TB M.2 SSDs running in RAID 0.  Windows 10 Enterprise x64 19041.572.  I have tried clean installations, of 2004, but have not tried the factory restore image.  BIOS has Secure Boot enabled, CSM disabled, and UEFI only boot.  All virtualization technologies have been enabled in the BIOS.

I hope someone can chime in with some assistance.

Thanks!

Hyper-V works fine on most Lenovo machines. You might need to reinstall windows clean to be sure the operating system is not badly mangled.

I own: T400 T500 X220 X230 all running Windows 10 Professional
