Re: X1 Yoga (2016) with NVMe SSD: newer windows builds' default PCIe chipset driver breaks NVMe

2017-01-30, 15:33 PM

We got Toshiba to investigate the issue and they identified a specific change in the Win10 NVMe driver that is causing this behavior.  It is still TBD whether Win10 will fix this issue or if there needs to be some Toshiba firmware update.  Toshiba and MSFT will need to work on the solution.  I'm not sure how long it will take.  I will update again if/when I know more.

thanks for the update, @someotherguy. good to know toshiba is now aware of the issue and was already able to pinpoint the problem!

just for fun I've tried todays 15031 build, still same issue. then while I was at it, I replaced the 15031 stornvme driver files with the ones from the working 14986 build. while the old driver indeed was loaded successfully, the problem still showed up, so now I'm back on the '86 build. I just hope Toshiba / MSFT fix the issue before the build expires on may 2th, heh.

I heard that MSFT fixed this issue, and Toshiba helped to verify it.  But the fix has not been released in any insider build yet.  Still waiting on a date / build number for that.

This helped me too
