Lenovo System Update installed the 'critical' Intel HD Graphics Driver 220.127.116.1190 on our X1 Yoga (20FR) and during the install the display freezes and on reboot we get the spinning dots at bottom of screen.
We did a system restore to roll back the drivers and installed them again via the download on Lenovo's web site following their instructions but same probem.
Anyone else having this problem but found a solution?

Welcome to Lenovo Community! And happy to have you here.
As I understand that you are facing issue after installing Intel Display driver from Lenovo
If that's the case why not give it a try to update it from Intel one from here. And try to update it from Device Manager manually from zip file.
Do let us know how it goes.
Please feel free to post in Lenovo Community Forums if you have any further queries!

We are facing huge issues with the latest 18.104.22.168.590 display driver for Intel HD Graphics 520. Once installed, the laptop screen goes black (you can barely see anything, just outlines of some windows) but external screen is working. This is huge issue, because once our people take their laptops off the dock, their screen goes black and they can't do anything.
Only solution so far that we've found is to completely uninstal and delete the driver, download Intel driver update utility and install driver version 22.214.171.12401. This is the only way to make both of the screens (external and laptop) work. It will take a lot of time, since we have around 50 laptopts facing this issue and everything has to be done manually.

In response to customer reports the black screen issue with new Intel driver, Lenovo has updated patch for it.
Try it and update us how it goes.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that this our problem doesn't happen with X1 Yoga but with X1 Carbon (20FB). Installing the patch you mentioned didn't help.

That links to a driver for the OLED display, our X1 Yoga's have the 14.1" FHD IPS Touch display so I am hesitant to apply this driver.

That OLED panel driver is for the user's who were facing black screen issue after installing the latest Display driver & which was successfully resolved by that patch.
And in your case the display is getting freeze. So what about the link which I have given you in the first reply had you tried updating it from Intel website?

Can you post the link to download the older driver from Intel that works for you? I've got the same problem as you on a yoga x1 (20FQ).
