X1 Yoga 2nd Gen - Power button not working

2019-07-24, 18:29 PM

Hi my X1Y2 laptop no longer has a power button that functions.  If I put the computer on sleep via Fn + 4, I can't wake it up with the Fn key or the power button.

I ran into this twice now in 3 days and when i use the emergency reset button on the bottom, I can't turn on the machine with the power button.  I was only able to get it going by disconnecting main power and CMOS battery and waiting for a couple minutes and then supply AC power after things were put together.  The power button would not turn it on.

I have since disabled Fn + 4 to sleep so that I don't get stuck again.  Lid closing to sleep works fine (opening the lid wakes it up).

Has anyone encountered this?  Do I have to replace the small power board (PW button Subcard - Part Number 01AX885)?  Or can a failing CMOS battery affect the power button (and is cheaper / readily available to try) ?

Changing CMOS battery had no effect.  Can't order the power board as it shows not in stock, and no ETA.  Why Lenovo?

I think you can change power button and see if it is useful.

There is no separate power switch unfortunately.  The power board I referred has the microswitch soldered on it.

What do others do when the parts aren't available at https://support.lenovo.com/ca/en/partslookup?  Does it come back eventually or do you order from ebay?  I just don't know how authentic parts are from there.
