X1 Yoga 3rd Gen unable to connect display via MiraCast/WiDi

Greetings,

I've had this X1 Yoga for about a week now and I've been trying to cast to both of my TV's but I get the same result. Both TV's are listed but when I try and connect, the screen on the laptop flashes on/off for about 30sec and then disconnects. The TV's are a LG and a TCL Roku both have MiraCast on them. Both see my laptop as well but they both say there was a connection error. Drivers are all up to date via Lenovo control panel. I'm trying this while plugged into AC power. Dxdiag does show "Miracast: Available, with DHCP". Below is the partial report and I can post the full report if needed.

I have this exact same issue. Can't project to wireless projectors. I'm guessing this is an Intel graphics driver issue.

Re: X1 Yoga 3rd Gen unable to connect display via MiraCast/WiDi

I have been connecting to my Samsung TV with no problems until about a month ago.  It would could connect but the screen would keep flashing then disconnect.  This would happen about 20% of the time.  Now it still connects and flashes and eventually disconnects.  So it quit working acompletely fter the last windows update OR BIOS update OR intel wireless driver update.  I have a feeling its the wireless driver update.

Which version of the 8625 driver are you running? I am on 20.70 now. Intel shows a 20.80 is out there but both windows and lenovo updates say everything is up to date on my end. Tried 20.50 and it said it couldn't be installed on this system. Going to try 20.60 and then 20.80 next

Actually, it won't let me install any of the updates. 20.50, 20.60, 20.70 or 20.80

I checked and they are all the W10 x64 versions of the PROSet Wireless drivers

Re: X1 Yoga 3rd Gen unable to connect display via MiraCast/WiDi

Just rolled it back to 20.50 manually. No dice.

Lenovo tech support referred me to their software support who then proceeded to ask for money almost immediately to look at the problem. This was unacceptable so I refused and hung up. I spent 3 hours on chat support for Windows and they referred me to Lenovo support. Should I try Intel support next? I'm assuming they will just try to blame it on someone else anyway.

Can I technically do this with a Chromecast? Sure and I do. That works for one room but I am not unplugging and moving a Chromecast to every room and bringing it with everywhere I go.

Re: X1 Yoga 3rd Gen unable to connect display via MiraCast/WiDi

Something is wrong software wise.  I have noticed now that it starts flashing and the tv screen is black then the tv screen shows disconnecting.  On the laptop its still flashes for 10-15 seconds then its fine.  IF I try to connect to tv again then it will connect about 50% of the time.  Since it eventually connects I dont think its hardware related.

Sounds about the same as me but it does the flashing every single time. Finally took a video so other can see what it's doing. https://youtu.be/wU-aDXZoO58

Wow.  Your video looks exactly like my symptoms but to a Samsung TV.  If right after the flashing stops I try to connect again roughly 50% of the time it will connect and work.  It gives me a headache waiting for the flashing to stop.
