Re: X1 Yoga 3rd gen. CPU frequency pegged at max

Thanks for the info. Gotta say it's quite odd to see Linux having better hardware compatibility than Windows, but I'm not complaining!

take audio recordings for record. Would make an interesting what manufacturer has the worst customer service, it's not untill the brand is damaged that anyone starts to care.

what's the solution now, seeing as the linked thread no longer exists?

The preload was fixed in April 2018.  The article has not been relevant for more than 1 year, which is why it was deleted.  When did you buy your X1Y3 and what problem are you having?

Check the post marked as a solution. You can fix the issue by running the crossed out commands. IIRC, that's basically what the linked patch did.

@someotherguy, please correct me if I'm wrong.

That is all correct, but my point is, if you bought your X1Y3 after April 2018, the solution post won't do a thing for you because we had fixed the factory preload by then.  Ditto if you clean-installed Windows, or used a recovery USB that was created after April 2018.

This problem i still very much present and not only you should have not deleted the solution but you should have worked on this to produce the ultimate patch that will fix this once and for all.

Carbon X1 6th gen bought in Oktober 2019 has the same issue. On AC it is throttled at 3,5 - 4 GHz. Nothing in this world would put it down except plugging it off the power cord. Is it possible that you people from Lenovo haven't addressed this very, very serious question for almost 2 years?
