Here's a slightly off-topic question but I wonder if this too stems from bad power plan configuration on Lenovo's part, so I would like to know if you guys who have reinstalled with stock Windows experience the same thing.

When my screen shuts off, my X1Y3 also goes into Modern Standby. I have set the sleep timer much higher than the screen off timer but Windows doesn't seem to care. This is highly annoying since I can't run downloads or even play music with the screen off.

, are others experiencing this too? And more importantly, are those of you who have reinstalled also seeing this behavior? (@someotherguy, )

No, I don't have that problem, but I have sleep disabled when plugged in.

Green here too. Anybody having any keyboard backlight flickering since doing the clean install, or just in general? I gotta say guys, this is my first Lenovo laptop, and I am deeply unimpressed with the QC and support provided by this company. At this price premium, I expected better service. I like the hardware, but I would return it if I could. However, I'm outside the 30 day window by two days and the 15% re-stocking fee is incredibly steep for those of us that purchased the top end model. It sounds like sending it in for the keyboard backlight issue would be fruitless, and have me without a computer, so I'll just hope it's another software issue and will resolve with updates.

Here's a video of my latest issue following the clean install. Anyone else seeing this behavior? I tried turning off the adaptive backlight already, and it's a problem whether that "smart" feature is on or off. As you can see in the video, pushing the Fn key makes it briefly stop, but it keeps returning until a restart.

No backlight flickering here.I would return it if I were you.

I agree with you about the support. I had to call multiple times to explain the problem and it's a lottery to talk to someone who understand something.

Then a pain in the ass to open a return request, they had to do it 4 times to finally succeed and sent me the FedEX sticker.

But then they didn't give the complete address to FedEX to pick up the parcel. Dudes, there are more than 5k people where I work, if you're unable to understand that FedEX will need a building and office number and not just the street, you'd better change your job...

Then they didn't repair the laptop, they even didn't read the sheet I put with the laptop explaining the problem because they called me to ask why I returned a working laptop.

Then they didn't give FedEX again the correct return address (which was written on the sheed they didn't read, of course).

It's a lot of small annoying things but I expected A LOT more from this company. Now the laptop is OK and I'm enjoying it but I'm asking for the next one. Might not be a Lenovo he...

I have not had that issue but yea that is like an episode of stranger things..

So far since the reinstall I've been good.. one good thing is I bought mine at Costco so it has a little bit longer of a return period but so far I'm loving it since reinstalling.

There's a dedicated thread discussing keyboard backlight flickering here:

Ah, I see. So it's a separate problem, possibly related to the latest BIOS. I feel like I've spent more time troubleshooting this computer than working on it.

Wow, that's crazy. I've had several Lenovo products in the past and they have all worked great for me. Although their products have been satisfactory, I have heard from many others that their support has been less-than-satisfactory.

In fact, I just ordered the the new X1 Carbon 6th gen and I read similar heating/fan always on issues between the new X1Carbon and the X1Yoga. I can keep you updated with my experience since you and many others seem to have this issue. Hopefully I will not have the same issue.
