X1 Yoga 4th Gen - "Configuration changed - Restart system." message

Hi

I've had a Yoga X1 4th gen (Type 20QF) since July and recently I've started seeing a "Configuration changed - Restart system." message during the initial boot screen. The PC goes through the boot cycle three time (each time showing the same message) before finally booting correctly.

I haven't added new hardware and I've kept all the drivers and BIOS up to date. I'm suspecting it's a BIOS update that's caused the problem.

The PC will sometimes be dead when I open it up and then it goes throught the odd boot sequence.

I've also noticed that the wifi connection is sometimes lost when opening the PC - not sure if this is related.

Bit dissapointing really for a premium laptop

Thanks for reading and I would be greatful for any suggetions

Hi JamKart! Welcome to our forums community. We can see some updates recently especially the BIOS that you mentioned. Just to make sure that everything is up o date, run the update through the Vantage app and install all available updates. Check also if there are pending windows updates. Go to Settings --> Update & Security --> Windows Update. Let us know how it goes.

Re: X1 Yoga 4th Gen - "Configuration changed - Restart system." message

Try running a hardware test from the Vantage app to check for hardware failure. If the result is none, reset the BIOS settings. To boot to BIOS, follow this: https://support.lenovo.com/sk/en/solutions/ht500222. Once you are in the BIOS page, go to the Exit Tab > Choose Load default settings > Hit the Enter Key > Choose Yes. After that, still in the Exit Tab > Choose Exit saving changes. Let us know it goes.

Hi

Thanks for that Vantage version.

The hardware test doesn't reveal any problems.

I've reset the BIOS so I'll let you know if I still have the probem

I still have the problem :-(

Is it worth reinstalling an earlier BIOS or would that cause a problem?

I can try installing BIOS 1.20 but can't find the old versions anywhere. Any Idea when to look?

And we're back...

Move delayed but still coming
