The newer versions of Word include a terrific equation editor. However, it suffers from a bug (known for years now, but Microsoft doesn't seem to care) that it crashes sometimes when backspace is used in or directly after a formula. I've gotten used to it and configured AutoSave to 1 min and try to only use Delete in formulas.
However, now and then I still accidently use backspace and cause it to crash. On my new X1 Yoga (Windows 10, Word 2016), this causes strange behaviour: When Word crashes, the cooling fan goes full speed and I can't do anything to stop it besides restart. If I try standby or hibernate the fan stops, but goes to full power again after resume.
Is there a way to fix this? Or is there at least a software way to make the fan stop that doesn't require restart?
