X1 Yoga Gen 3 Touchscreen Not Working After Wake From S3 Sleep

2020-07-29, 18:22 PM

So I recently switched the sleep state on my Thinkpad X1 Yoga Gen 3 to "Linux" (aka S3) from the default Windows Modern Standby because my machine was draining quite a lot of battery on Modern Standby,

While I do see an improvement in the battery drain during sleep, every time I open the lid of my machine from sleep and login, the touch functionality of my yoga seems to stop, making the "yoga" feature quite pointless. I have researched this issue and found a couple of workarounds such as disabling Thunderbold in BIOS or quickly closing and opening the lid to enable sleep, and using the power button to resume from sleep.

However, as these are not true solutions and just workarounds, I was curious to see if anyone has experienced this issue and has come up with a true solution that just "works." I am really hoping Lenovo can address this problem in a future update, as it is sad to see the touchscreen not functioning after merely waking from sleep.

Machine Specs: Lenovo X1 Yoga Gen 3, i7-8650U,16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Windows 10 Pro v1903

Hi Punjani, Did you re-install Windows after switching to S3?
I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

I have not, the OS install is the factory install from Lenovo. I did recently update Windows 10 to version 2004, however, the issue still remains to persist.
