Re: X1 Yoga OLED WWAN/NFC Questions

The em7455 can either use a dedicated GPS antenna or receive GPS via the aux wwan antenna. I hope Lenovo did the right thing since this laptop only has the two wwan antennae. The at!custom? command should show GPSSEL=1.

Hi.

Where did you get the antennae GPS cable?  I bought the card and the antennae kit from lenovo and both did NOT have the GPS cable.  (The other cables were present)

Re: X1 Yoga OLED WWAN/NFC Questions

Didn't need the gps cable. I guess if you wanted a stronger gps signal you could attach an antenna to it but I haven't had an issue.

I am going to research it. The AT command port is not enabled by default (MBIM mode). But can be enabled by installing driver from Sierra Wireless with the USBCOMP= command line switch to indicate the desired USB composition (There are a number of com ports one can potentially have, namely NMEA GPS, AT command and DM).

But if everything works fine the way it is I may leave it at default. I am curious whether AGPS is correctly configured, allowing quick GPS locks to occur.

Re: X1 Yoga OLED WWAN/NFC Questions

Ok, let me know when you know. Mine is used for business, so I'm not too thrilled to install anything that might break my stable build. But would be nice to know the details once you do.

Thanks for your time G.

Re: X1 Yoga OLED WWAN/NFC Questions

HyperTerminal on Windows 10 doesn't work too well so I haven't found a way to send the commands, although the NMEA COM port does show real time data.

Re: X1 Yoga OLED WWAN/NFC Questions

It appears the 2nd gen has this limitation too! If anyone sees a thread on the 2nd gen WWAN mod please post it here!

Re: X1 Yoga OLED WWAN/NFC Questions

Hi ElijahLynn1, and welcome to the Lenovo User Community!

There are many X1 Yoga 2nd Gen models with OLED and WWAN and NFC.

Hope this helps!

I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

Re: X1 Yoga OLED WWAN/NFC Questions

Thank you, that gives me hope. When I went to customize one it said I could not choose WWAN if I chose the OLED display. Maybe it is just a configuration limitation right now.

Re: X1 Yoga OLED WWAN/NFC Questions

Actually, as this thread suggests. The option for WWAN + OLED does not show up if you change the region to US here http://psref.lenovo.com/Product/ThinkPad_X1_Yoga_2nd_Gen?ch=oled.

So my options appear to be the same as the X1 Yoga 1st gen; hack in an antenna and radio or buy one from a different region...
