Re: X1 Yoga Touch Screen No Longer Working

2016-11-01, 11:43 AM

Are there any updates on this?

2 days ago I used the touchscreen - yesterday it stopped working.

I installed Bios Update, Firware Update, WinTab Driver... The Device is showing up in Windows Device Manager and under xinput list under Ubuntu, but no events seem to be registered.

Extract fwupdate.exe with winrar.

Disable AV.

Run 5095_v0005_rev02.exe

Fixed my issue.

This means, that die Updater does not work! The vbs script running the update does not select the correct FW!

Especially problematic if installed via System Updater from Lenovo. This is an issue which NEEDS to be fixed. This costs companies much money and wastes users' time!

A keen user can fix it by him/herself. A normal user not. The X1 is a business machine, keep that in mind Lenovo!

The support exchanged the screen - touch works again. Was a hardware issue for me.

Mine had the same issue, after replacing the display by a lenovo support technician it works again just fine.

Support came within 2-3 days so I am glad it worked out quick!

Same issue here with the new OLED model (pen works, touch doesn't at all).  PID 0X05087

Issue presented itself after a fresh install of Win 10 build 1607 (both pen and touch worked from factory)

Ran the suggested firmware update 5095_v0005_rev02.exe (had to extract with 7zip), PID changed to 0x05085 post-firmware update.

Rebooted, touchscreen is still unresponsive.

Re: X1 Yoga Touch Screen No Longer Working

Please advise: As suggested in messages 137 and 142, I manually downloaded the "Touch Firmware Update Tool" V4.19 dated 6/19/2016.  I then manually extracted it into a folder. I then right-clicked on the first .exe file (that is, 503E_v0004_rev19.exe, dated 5/31/2016) and ran as administrator. After a series of warnings appeared about power,  a pop-up screen appeared with title "Multi-touch Device Firmware Update Utility  Ver.2.16" with input boxes for "Product ID", "Version" and a greyed-out EXIT button.  The file "Log.txt" (in the same folder as the .exe files) has a long stream of lines like "17:23.055 No device".

The firmware update program is clearly waiting for input. What do I enter in these two input boxes? Or is there an alternative step that needs to be taken?

I have this issue as well. Just recieved my Yoga X1 in the mail today. Touchscreen and pen both worked. DId all windows updates and Lenovo updates. Screen completely stopped. Have tried all suggestions on this thread. Finally downloaded the Reset USB software and started fresh. Now no touchscreen even then. What now?

You are lucky.

I had waited 2 months to receive the OLED CTO.

My OLED display's brightness is always at max whenever I open the lid. In order to address this issue I did a clean installation of Windows 10 and the touch-screen stopped working while the Wacom Pen worked. I ran the official Touch Firmware Update Tool (v4.19) and both the touch-screen and the Wacom Pen stopped working.

Then I had waited for 3 days for the "next business day" on-site repair, for which the technician brought ab IPS panel.

Then I had waited for 19 days for the next on-site repair, after which the lid no longer closes properly, for which on the right-hand side there was a gap between the lid and the palm-rest.

Then I had waited for 6 days until a representative contacted me to shedule a depot repair and 7 more days to get the laptop collected from me.

Then I had waited for 10 days until the laptop was shipped back to me, only to find that the battery was no longer connected to the motherboard while the black plastic protective film covering the WLAN card and the M.2 SSD went missing which could be observed through the cooling vents at the bottom of the laptop.

For multiple times the repairmen for Lenovo UK has made careless repairs with brutal handling, showing no respect to their job. A dodgy firmware update tool can ruin your precisely built £2600 laptop and turn it into an unreliable and sloppy piece of e-waste (yes it's almost Kaby Lake refresh time now!).

I have bought a X1 Yoga OLED. Date is now 11/01/17. I noticed that the touch screen had stopped working. Pen worked fine. The solution for me was to apply the fix:- It can be downloaded here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/DS112340 Then enter BIOS settings and do a reset. Touch was again working and It has had a few closes/sleeps with no reoccurence as yet.
