X1 Yoga (gen 2) Further LTE Issues

Dear Forum

I found a lot of issues with LTE/Sierra Wireless on the forum and web generally but none that fits my symptoms.

I am using Win10 64 bit on Yoga X1 gen 2. LTE card is Sierra Wireless EM7455 Qualcomm Snapdragon X7 LTE-A. Provider is Vodafone Germany.

Driver details from device manager are

Microsoft driver 1/1/2018 version 10.0.16299.192.

Windows reports that this driver is the most up to date driver available for the hardware.

The issue is that Mobile network gets sporadically disconnected. Usually when the device goes into hibernate or restarts. Windows network diagnostic shows that the SIM2 PIN is needed but doesn't give me any idea where to enter this.

Checking internet settings and some help from forum, I find that DCHP is reset to static IP address each time but no values entered. If I change to DCHP and restart the adapter then everything works... until the next restart.

When I first got the laptop everything was working except the download speed was aweful. Compared to Vodafone on Gallaxy S8 next to laptop about 10 times speed difference. Therefore I installed the Vodafone app but then delinstalled when that didn't fix the speed issue. Seems that the DHCP issue arose at this time.

Would appreciate the support to fix this. Really anoying to have an always-online laptop that needs 5 mins of fiddling each time I want to go online ;-)

Regards

Richard

Re: X1 Yoga (gen 2) Further LTE Issues

Welcome to the Community

Did you install the drivers from Lenovo support site? The recent Sierra' drivers have another notation and release date.

Could you provide some data about your modem? Once the modem losts the connection, open command prompt window, execute the following commands, one by one, remove (paint) the part of Hardware ID data and past the output here:
netsh mbn sh int
netsh mbn sh cap int=*
netsh mbn sh rad int=*

x220 • Gobi 2000 3g | hdd, msata ssd, wwan, wifi, gps -- unique hand-made config
ThinkPad 25 Special Anniversary Edition. #retro. Signed by D.Hill
T470p | X1 Carbon Gen3 | Miix 2 10" | Yoga Tablet 2-1050F (Android) + BT Keyboard
ThinkPad Stack • 2.4/5 Wireless Router, HDD 1 TB, BT Speaker, Power Bank, Mobile Projector

Do it well, worse becomes itself

Re: X1 Yoga (gen 2) Further LTE Issues

Many thanks. I updated again to the drivers from Lenovo site and things seem to be working. Windows still reports the same driver ID info from the hardware settings but I just restarted and am still online so I assume it has actually updated. Anyway, I ran the commands (after update drivers).

Thanks very much.

// netsh mbn sh int
