Hello keras,

Welcome to Lenovo Community

You can try connecting an external monitor on the mini DisplayPort to further isolate the problem
Have you tried it using Windows OS?

Lorenzo, I tried to use vga/mini port cable connect monitor on this port and it did not work. Same cable works on t460/windows 10.

I have tried this cable on x1 1st gen on windows 10 before I put on Ubuntu and did not work.

Thanks,

Re:X1 carbon G1: mini display don't work

Hi, I worked with different usb-c cables and adapters to Display(mini)port, they all worked with 4K 60Hz on both usb-c ports.
Then after 3 months I unplugged everything to bring  my laptop along. When I got back, none worked anymore. Even the HDMI port was dead.
Lenovo 'fixed' it with a new motherboard. At first it worked again. But they advised to update all drivers and firmware, because the new motherboard was stil at version of 2018(just like my original motherboard).
After install of all the latest firmware updates, both USB-C ports refuse to deliver to displayport. The only one that still works is USB-C to HDMI, but this one does not give more than 30hz on 4K.(hurts your eyes)
I think they just disabled the displayport over usb-c, because of too many problems.

The very expensive USB-C port replicator of Lenovo does work of course! (but this is probably using something else, like displaylink or so)

p.s. I have a 6th generation.

p.s.2 HDMI port allows only 30Hz for 4K displays as well😥

product: 20FQCTO1WW (LENOVO_MT_20FQ_BU_Think_FM_ThinkPad X1 Yoga 1st)

BIOS does not display with displayport, it display with eDP all the time, even i setup in the bios, i hope i did the correct setting in bios, i attach picture with my bios setting.

And i think i update the bios to the most current one.

I guess mini display firmware for my X1 1st gen is 1.1, can you provide any step to upgrade the firmware. thanks.

Can you also provide the model number of the dock port?
Would another machine also works with the same port ?
Without the port connected, would the laptop be able to project display via the same cable on the mini display port?
