Well, now that post has reappeared a few posts up -- for now, at least.  Strange...

As a software developer or hardware engineer reproducible bugs are the best bugs. It seems to be the same for everyone. Surely they can reproduce this in the lab.

Hi @Zoltanthegypsy,

Seeing as this issue and thread is 5 months old and unsolved, could you confim if Lenovo Support are aware of it?, or have a Lenovo Support member post an official reply as to the status of this (now) well documented and easily replicated issue? It's bizzare that it remains unanswered by anyone officially from Lenovo.

Kind regards,

Al2k

Same problem with a brand new P53. Disabling and enabling UHD Graphics 630 in Device Manager solves the issue.

I solved with my P53 disabling Windows fast startup.

As you know, mods and gurus are volunteer members here and not agents or employees of Lenovo.  I don't generally have direct acces to support of the kind you request.  There is a mechanism for asking for attention to a particular thread - which I have done.

I registered on this forum just for this issue.  Bought a brand new 4k monitor to pair with this nice laptop.  Same issue with external monitor used as the only display and the computer is super laggy.

Mod - Please use whatever means you have to get this visible to lenovo support.  This thread is already 8 pages long!  Thanks.

I registered just for this too.  In case you didn't read the whole thread, in this post I provided a PowerShell script that can disable and re-enable the Intel GPU as a workaround.  Running that is faster than manually going to Device Manager and doing the disable/re-enable dance in that interface, so as long as you're an administrator on the system and therefore able to do that at all, that might make this issue somewhat easier to live with until it gets fixed.

I think disabling Windows fast startup is fixing this issue for me!

On my system it looks like the BIOS update fixed it, but somebody else said they're still seeing the issue.  I would be surprised if disabling Fast Startup was a workaround for this, though.  Fast Startup means that when you shut your system down, the kernel is hibernated so that your system starts more quickly (without the delay of entering normal hibernation, which stores everything in memory on disk).  A restart always completely restarts the kernel, so disabling Fast Startup just causes shutdowns to behave like restarts, as they always did before Windows 8 introduced this feature as enabled by default.  But this issue doesn't seem to require any sort of shutdown, sleep, hibernation, etc. to be triggered, and it can appear even after a restart that would completely restart the kernel.  I'm not saying you're wrong that this is a fix, just that I'd be surprised if that was the case.  Although if it IS the case, that just makes me even more curious as to underlying cause.  Sadly I doubt we'll ever get a detailed technical explanation of the problem, even if we do get a fix (which we better!)
