Re: X100e BIOS Problems with WWAN Device Gobi 2000

2010-04-11, 0:12 AM

Hi all,

The beginning soluce :

The problem with installing the Gobi 2000 drivers is caused by a library that Qualcomm uses to support the installation called difxapi. The supporting DLL for this API is included in the installation package and it conflicts with the Windows 7 version, this conflict causes a custom action in the installation routine to fail and forces a rollback of the installation.

To fix the problem we need only to replace this DLL with the one from your Windows 7 installation. If you don’t have it already you need to download the driver installation package from your laptop manufacturer’s support site and extract it somewhere.

Starting from where you unarchived your package look for a directory similar to “\Driver\Source\Module Retargetable Folder\QCUSB-Lenovo\DriverPackage\Microsoft\DIFxAPI”. Now you just need to replace the difxapi.dll here with the one from “c:\windows\system32\”. If you are running 64-bit Windows then copy the DLL into the amd64 subdirectory, for 32-bit installations copy the DLL into the x86 directory, if you’re not sure you can safely copy it into both directories.

Trying !

Once you replace this DLL the setup.exe under the “Driver” directory should now run successfully. Once the installation finishes verify that you have the “QCUSB-*” and “QDLService” directories under “c:\QUALCOMM”.

Hi.

As is write in the blog that you are reported as solution, this is not need anymore with new drivers relese.

The dll library is onwed by TrustedInstaller user and copy'n paste do not work.

Can you explane how to take the dll ownership and then how to restore to the original configuration?

Thanks a lot.

Bye

gaetano,

Thanks for sharing this - it seems there are several things being tried...

Members rotorhead and Geobaer shared the following information obtained on this blog...

http://weitlandt.com/tags/x100e/

They shared the following translations of the instructions... there are some subtle differences....  I'm passing these along, not as Lenovo proceedures but because both these members found them to be helpful and reported success.  It is possible that there are several variables at play here and that while the high level symptoms are common that there can be different issues at root.

Geobear's proceedure...

As I could understand, it is very improtant to run the bios-update twice. On the second run, I've selected "update model number" - without changing anything. After this second update, after restart I've disabled WWAN, Wimax and WLAN -> "F10" -> power off, accu and power plug removed for about 1 min. After this steps I've started the X100e again -> BIOS -> enabled WWAN, Wimax and WLAN -> "F10" -> reboot

Rotorhead's instructions..

  1. Update the BIOS by choosing to update it, which leads to the error message, that the same BIOS level is already applied to the system.
  2. Updating the system number without changing it, which leads to a successful BIOS update
  3. Reboot
  4. Disable WWAN, WIMAX & WLAN
  5. Reboot
  6. Shutdown while system starts up
  7. Boot into OS
  8. Gobi device successfully installed

Please let others on the thread know if these were helpful...

Mark

Hi.

After 2 weeks I called Lenovo Suppport to know the state of recovery. The help Desk syas that all software is ok, but the problem is not solved with software update...  there are other hardware problems and the machine is in the laboratory.

Wath's fault in the Thinkpad x100e? Why Lenovo do not send me another notebook if this is a lacked machine?

This is the fift week that I cannot work!

Bye
