X100e Sound Enhancement Thread

Hi all

I have released a new sound enhancement guides for X100e. I know it's quite a old machine, but I just got it to play around from a friend and seen the musical potential of it. I hope existing X100e user would benefit from it. Some configurations are different from rest of the machine as this sound tweaks is optimized for lower performance machine.

Step 1: Download and Install Dolby Home Theater v4 from this link (x86 for 32bit OS, x64 for 64bit OS) > Extract the compressed folder and run DTPC.msi to install.

Step 2: After installation, restart your computer.

Step 3: Go to Control Panel > View by: Small Icons > Sound > Double-click Speakers > Advanced
- Change Default Format / Sample Rate to 24 bit, 48000 Hz (Studio Quality) - Sweet Spot for X100e.

- Uncheck Exclusive Mode

Re: X100e Sound Enhancement Thread

Hi all

This post would provide detailed information of settings that X100e changed in Dolby Tuning and Profiles Creator.

1. System
System.PNG

As X100e itself is a entry-level laptop, performance would be fair. In order to improve sound without using too much system resources that affects overall system performance. Spectral Visualization Interval is increased to 100ms.

2. Optimizer

Optimizer.PNG

+6dB gain was increased on both left and right channel to maximize loudness of the internal speakers. Anything higher may cause sound inconsistencies as the sound card would not have enough power to deliver to support higher gain.

3. Profiles

Loudness.PNG

Loudness EQ - Optimized for outdoor or large environment.

Balanced.PNG

Balanced EQ - Balance tone for bass, mid and treble. (32Hz and 64Hz is lowered to the minimum as small speakers are not able to create drag and punch kind of bass)

Additional Notes

For your external headphones and speakers, please use Dolby prebuilt profiles or create a custom profile, as loudness and balanced profiles is only optimized for internal speakers.
