X100e WWAN problems

I have an X100e with the the GOBI 2000 module, and have installed my UK vodafone PAYG sim in the machine (it has credit and works in my 3G dongle).

I installed the latest Vodafone Mobile Broadband software (V10) and all Lenovo/Windows updates, and after enabling WWAN the vodafone software correctly finds the device and initiates a network connection.  At this point however I get an error:

Mobile connection not possible.

-Set your current mobile device as the default device under the 'Devices' tab in the Advanced WIndow

-Ensure that no other applications are using your mobile device and try again in a short while.

-Delete the device under the 'Devices' tab in the Advanced window, add it back, and then trey connecting

If this error persists please contact Support at your mobile network operator.

Support Information:

RAS error code 770

I've tried the suggested fixes as above (although I'm not sure how to check which applications are trying to use the device), and Vodafone cannot help - so I'm a bit stuck.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Re: X100e WWAN problems

There's any specific reason for using VMB ?

If not, why don't use the stock sw (access connections)?
