X121e

2011-04-04, 6:40 AM

Noticed this will looking at sleeves at Lenovo.

X100e sleeve case

It mentions it will also fit the X121e. Will this have the AMD E-450 coming out in the third quarter?

Hello,

I suspect it is a typo and will be removed shortly.  In any case, I would not expect Lenovo to comment on unannounced products (and to provide only minimal commentary on announced-but-not-yet-available ones).

It look like it's not a typo and the OP might be right.

See here.

It seems they passed certification last month. I say "they" because I notice two models listed: ThinkPad X121e (AMD) AND ThinkPad X121e (Intel). So E450 isn't the only possibility.

Exciting!

I would very much like a x120e form-factor with a better CPU. Core i3, anyone?

It would most likely fix my dislikes about the x120e- slowish processor and hot idling temps.

Edits:

Looking at that page, they list a Intel x120e version, too.  It's possible that there may have been a Atom version in the works but never finished/released.

Tangent: I suppose wireless devices need to be certified for regulatory reasons, which is why there's a whitelist in the bios.

Here's an email from a customer service rep regarding the x121e found in another thread: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/X120e-Buy-now-or-wait/m-p/440403#M24164

Based on the timing mentioned in the email (1st half of June), it probably will not be the AMD E-450 but maybe a refresh of the E-350 (if there even is one in the works- didn't check).  I'd still like to see an Intel-based variant for variety, ideally i3, but I think it'd muddle up the product portfolio too much.
