X13 Yoga is dead

2020-10-17, 19:57 PM

Hi. I just got X13 Yoga as present from my late grand father as I just started university. He passed away 10 days ago because of covid 19. He just handed it to me two days before he died.

Today I was working on laptop I just stepped away and when I came back the screen was off. I thought its gone on standby. I tried to turn it on but it didn't. I plugged the charger but it didn't work again but the fan was at full speed.

I went online at the Lenovo Community and tried to find a solution.

One was press the power button for one min and keep it holding and then cycle completes and then press normally. It will turn on. I did that with power cable in and out as it didn't mention how to do it but it didn't work.

Secondly it said unclip the battery and then turn it on it will be okay that didn't help either.

I am so upset I don't know what to do. It has all my data in it and I don't know what to do. Its an emotional attachment with it too. Now I am totally clueless what to do. Urgent help is needed.

Thanks in advance

Did you try the emergency reset hole on the bottom?

I plugged the charger but it didn't work again but the fan was at full speed.

This is the most strange behavior for me in this case, bolded in particular. What is caused the laptop to be powered off and then such fan behavior?

If the laptop was in the stand-by mode, either sleep or hibernated or modern standby, then Fn (not the power button) should wake it up. Anyway, the fan full speed looks strange.

Any chance some update and even the BIOS update has started in the background mode and not completed successfully? Am I right the laptop was unplugged while you was absent (in this case the BIOS update shouldn't start)? What could be the battery charge level in that case?

Try to charge the laptop for 5-10 minutes, then perform the emergency reset.

Does the power LED blink once the laptop plugged in? Does it blink after power on?

If the emergency reset doesn't help I'd unplug the laptop, disconnect the battery cable (be careful), perform the power circuits reset (press the power button for 30 seconds). But you seem have performed that already.

If nothing help try to find other PC or laptop with m.2 slot for PCIe NVMe SSD (or external USB adapter), save the data from the SSD and service the laptop at Lenovo service provider.

Re:X13 Yoga is dead

2020-10-19, 0:02 AM

hi there. I have followed each and every step even though I was doing it for the second time but nothing helped. I never expected ThinkPad to be so unreliable machines. I thought they were the best ones.

I am in shock until now what actually has happened it was a total of 15 minutes that I stepped away. The charger was plugged in and the battery was at 70 per cent approximately. If there was any update its usually asks for acceptance and then it starts. When I came back, only the fan was on and the rest of the system was off. Nothing was making it to respond I pressed enter key then the function key. I was just working on excel and nothing intensive. One more thing, that I noticed was that the battery was only lasting 2 -3 hours whereas it said it was 14 hours battery can it be a faulty battery or faulty machine or is that faulty batch. Is this model having issues like this or its only me?

The light flashes orange when i plug in the charger. The red light on the front also flashes a couple of times when I plug in the charger. the orange light flashes when i press the power button on.

I have 3 years premier warranty on this machine, so what is the next step and how can I get it up and running. I have barely used the machine for a few hours. I need help from you as i don't know the procedure and I am grateful to you and other moderators for the help you provided and tried to help me.

Kindly help me get it up and running and the process how to move forward i will be waiting for your reply.

Thanks
