X130e - Lost rubber feet...

2012-08-13, 8:40 AM

I'm typically on the go very often and love the weight and size of this laptop. However, a few days ago whilst typing out an email. I noticed that my thinkpad was rocking. I flipped it over to find that one of the rear rubber feet was missing. Looking this up online, it seems to be somewhat of a common complaint, as the rubber feet on the X130e protrudes more than its predecessor, the X120e...

Tried to order it on the phone, but was thrown from the Lenovo support line who gave me a number to call and ask for a "base kit/cover". I reached IBM parts and was told that they couldn't tell me if they had it since I needed an FRU number. I eventually managed to find  "base cover" and its pricing online - $80...  =(

I know my chances are slim, but I'm wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to order *just* the rubber feet?

Thank you ahead for any suggestions.

you won't be able to order just the rubber feet.

Rather you have to order set of rubber feet and screws from memory.

Unless you insist on OEM I would simply go to a hardware store or even a Wal-Mart and look for a package of 4 stick-on rubber feet. They come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. Stick with (pardon the pun) name brands like 3M. The ones you can find at dollar stores often have poor adhesion. A few minutes and a few dollars later the issue will be resolved.

I have an x131e with the same issue- rubber foot now missing so computer wobbles when typing. I placed a call to the service support number after looking through the parts list and not finding rubber feet. No adhesive residue or anything, my guess is that some of these feet are just press fit into place and when  they fall off, they fall off.

FIrst- Lenovo must recruit from the short bus. The rep that took my call kept calling my i3 x131e a Chromebook??? NO, it is not a Chromebook, go back to school.

Second- Rubber feet can only be obtained by purchasing the ENTIRE BOTTOM CASE OF THE PC. Seriously???

No more Lenovo for me, maybe a YOUTUBE video of me burning my Lenovo desktop and laptop will get someone to get in contact with me. You can't find an email or phone number to escalate issues like this to, they just don't give a crap about long term customer relationships. But what else can you expect from a company based in China.

This rep suggested I fold up some paper and place it under the PC to keep it from wobbling, that is the best Lenovo has to offer.
