Off and on for a year or two, I have had a frustrating problem. I have a Lenovo dock mplugged in to a USB port. Usually after Windows 7 has done an upgrade, my x140e will not boot. The ThinkPad screen appears without the "Press Enter" line at the bottom, then the screen blanks, and the ThinkPad screen appears again. If I start with the USB cable to the docking station unplugged, or plug it in after "Starting Windows" appears, everything works perfectly. At first I thought the Windows upgrades were screwing with some device driver, but now I wonder if the ThinkPad is trying to find some boot device on the docking station (which has some exterenal hard disk drives). Is there some way to force the ThinkPad to always boot from the internal hard drive? I have looked through the BIOS screens without success.
