latest update from my complain manager, who has singularly refused to respond to any questions whatsoever on this topic

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you want I can offer you the refund of the unit.

Please be informed as per our refund process, we are first obliged to collect the faulty unit.

yes, that's your lot people.  no further discussion, no clarification, no customer satisfaction, no call.  Nothing.  That's what Lenovo think of their customers.

This will be the last Lenovo machine our company will ever buy.

I just tried to install the latest driver, 26.20.100.7811 - still same problem with no 5120 x 1440 resolution, looks really bad on my ultrawide monitor on resolution 3480 x 1080... Guess I'm rolling back to Intel Graphics 620 driver version 26.20.100.6911 then...

Guys, I have a success!!! Here are the steps I followed (did both 1 and 2):

1. Suggested from Lenovo support

2. Figured out by myself as I gave up on waiting for Lenovo support to respond

  • Right-click on Start and select Device Manager
  • Click on "Display Adapters" to expand, and then double-click on your Intel HD Graphics adapter
  • Select the Driver tab -> "Update Driver" -> "Browse my computer for driver software" -> "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer"
  • Select “Microsoft Basic Display Adapter”
  • Click “Next” (note that you screen resolution will likely change when it switches to the basic driver)
  • Close Device Manager
  • Download version of the Intel UHD Driver dch_igcc_win64_26.20.100.6709
  • Unzip in a folder
  • Go to Device Manager -> Display Adapters -> Right click on the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter -> Update Driver -> Browse my computer for driver software -> Choose the folder with your driver
  • ENJOY

PLEASE ONLY DO THE ABOVE AT YOUR OWN RISK. I cannot guarantee that it will work for you and I cannot take responsibility on behalf of Lenovo's support.

Hi,

Thanks for sharing your solution.

I have been installing the old version over and over, but the new comes back within hours or days.

How do you prevent the update of the driver in your case?

I have switched off automatic updates in Lenovo Vantage, but it doesn't seem to help. Maybe I should uninstall it completely.

Hi, I also have a Carbon X1 I purchased in Germany in Q4/2019. I did connect my Monitors via a docking station to two 27 inch Eizo monitors. The problem was that both monitors were not having the same resolution. Lenovo Japan (I live there) has been working since months to fix the problem. So far unsuccessfully.

Now, I work at home Office and purchased the LG 49WL95C-W. I connected the docking station via one HDMI and one Digitalport to split the monitor into two screens. Again, I have the same problem with different resolutions one is 800 x 600 and one is 2560 x 1440. My original case no. is 8014042107. Would be good to know whether there is a solution to the problem. I will also forward your cases to my Lenovo support in Japan.

Re:X1C 6th Gen - Lenovo revoking support for 5120x1440 ultra-wide

Based on the instructions seen from dimitardekov, I went on and tried the driver solution on My Lenovo X1 7th gen, without going through the bios option.

I have done this, also with the newest driver for the display adapter, 26.20.100.7985, downloaded from the intel homepage.

My screen functions perfectly with 5120x1440 on my Dell U4919DW, and there is no issue at the moment.

However, Lenovo Vantage updated my driver, and I lost the resolution, but I did the same again, and it works again. Have now turned off automatic updates, and nothing has happened since.

Thus, it appears that Lenovo is actively removing this support, as the intel driver supports this without a hitch.

Re:X1C 6th Gen - Lenovo revoking support for 5120x1440 ultra-wide

I currently use the drive 26.20.100.6860 with the latest BIOS, but it can output 5120 resolution.

Indeed, I think every once in a while, the driver automatically updates it, but because this is a company laptop, I don't and think I can change the auto update settings.

So I just initiate the "Roll back driver" from my Device Manager and it works perfectly.

Currently using the 49 inch display from LG with USBC connection.  This is awesome.

Hope this helps someone.

Same issue.  I have a 7th Gen Lenovo and it no longer works with my 49" LG monitor.  Lenovo, obviously it's possible to make this work.  Please update the driver and support this.
