X1C LCD issue. Unhappy with repair

2014-04-15, 2:32 AM

The display on my one year old x1c suddenly stopped working after two hours' normmal use. I can only see stripes and lines. Sent to repair but was told that there was a crack on the disply and it was not covered. I was unhappy, told them to esclate the case.

I just do not understand how it could be my own problem. I have been using thinkpad for many years and never encountered any issue with display. it is a computer that claims to meet 8 military specs. I was wondering what MILITARY specs they are.

I am still waiting for their decision. If they stil do not cover it (they charge me $750. crazy.), this will become the point I consider to switch to other brands.

Sorry for the obvious question, but was the display cracked when you sent it to them?

I decided to get Lenovo's accidental damage insurance for my current laptop so I wouldn't have to worry about situations like this.

No. At least not as I can notice it. I never dropped it or used violence against it.

Problem solved. After escalating the case, I was told that the LCD will be repaired with no charge.

They rejected my claim and want $750 for a new screen.  I'm sending my x1 carbon back to the seller.

I had mine back again today and the problem was finally resolevd. I do believe it is a quality issue if many of us experience the same problem. Have you tried escalating your case?

Well, when the rep told me they wanted $750, I told him that I just got the laptop and it came with the defect as-is.  He then said he would "escalate my claim".

I told them, that's okay, my return window is closing and to just send me back the laptop so I can get my full refund.  (I had buyers remorse anyways).  And planning to get the MacPro.

But when I checked my claimed status, it's now saying "machine being repaired".  So I guess they decided to just fix it even though I told them to send it back.

Either way, I'll see if I can still return the laptop.  Seeing other laptops in person makes the X1 Screen look like total garbage.
