Greetings fellow Thinkpadders. I received my X1C6 about two weeks ago, and all is well except the fingerprint reader. I am patched up to date according to both Windows Update and Vantage, and that has included two BIOS updates since I first unboxed it.
The fingerprint reader does not come back after a sleep or hibernate. That is, if I Restart, I can log in with my fingerprint -- the white LED is on and so forth. But if I suspend and resume, no white LED, and fingerprint doesn't work at Windows Logon -- I have to use my PIN or password.
Vantage's hardware scan shows nothing wrong. Any hints or advice appreciated.
Serial# PF0YSFED, Product# 20KH002KUS, BIOS N23ET37W 1.12, Windows 10.0.16299 (Build 16299)

Can you check what version of fingerprint driver is installed?
1. open Device Manager
2. expand "Biometric Devices
3. double-click on the synaptics device
4. go to the "driver" tab
5. what is the driver version that is reported there?

I am in a similar situation like you, and my FP sensor becomes dysfunctional this monrning. It's weird that it works great yesterday.....
This morning, when I want to login to the system using FP, it says it doens't work, so I have to login using pin. I thought it should be a internal data error or something, therefore I delete the FP in the win10 login setting. The problem is when I want ot reset, once I get in the setting page, before I put finger on the sensor, the light above the sensor turns on and shows white light for 0.5 secs, and quickly change to amber light, blink twice and turn white once and then dead. One the screen, the FP setting procedure still works and ask me to re-put my finger again. When I really to put my finger on it, nothing happens.
It feels like some sort of hardware failure which makes the sensor to receive a wrong signal before I really put my fingers on.
I have attempted to re-install the driver/ clean the FP data in BIOS, but none of them works for me.
Now I am think of software compatibility issue.
Can anyone help me?

I have had the X1C6 for about 6 weeks now, and in that time it happend twice that the FP-reader stopped working.
On both occassions I was able to resurrect it using the Windows-10 device manager:
in Windows device manager:
Biometric devices ->
Synaptics WBDI – SGX (double click)
Driver -> Disable Device
Driver -> Enable Device
