X1E Gen 2: 0,5 sec freeze problem

2019-12-01, 4:31 AM

Hi,

Well, apart from that annoying keystrokes missing on my new X1E Gen 2 machine, I am experiencing a 0,5 second freeze problem on Windows desktop every few minutes, that is also very annoying.

I read that this 0,5 second freeze is caused by bad dGPU switch between Intel and NVIDIA graphics during normal operation, and that there's an app called TratPwrD3 that acts as a workaround, but with cons on battery life. I don't try that yet.

https://github.com/jobeid/TrayPwrD3

Interestingly, I noticed that this problem does not ocurrs when you have a second display via HDMI connected. It only happens when you are using the internal display only.

This is bad. I brought a new laptop and I have two problems. Any way to resolve this?

Regards and thank you in advance.

I can confirm this problem happens when you have hybrid graphics configured in BIOS.

When you switch to 'Discrete graphics' mode, the problem doesn't ocurr.

Obviously, not ideal because I lose battery life.

Hi,

I want to question if more users are having this issue. It's the infamous "NVIDIA Optimus" problem that most hybrid graphics notebooks suffer.

It's the same exact issue that this little App 'fixes'... but, it's not the ideal solution.
