X1Y2 - computer restarts everytime i close the lid

After installing the latest round of updates from Lenovo for W10, I've been having this issue. I close the lid, the computer begins to restart itself immediately. I tried doing a hardware scan and everything's fine. I tried change the lid close options - usually I have it set to sleep, I changed it to 'do nothing' and then back to sleep and each time I still had the problem. Putting charger in doesn't change anything. If I set the computer to sleep by pressing fn+4 and I DONT close the lid... it goes to sleep just fine. There are no new updates available for me to install from either Lenovo or windows.

If you've updated the Intel ME to the latest which has the fix for the Intel Sensor Solution, you'll need to be sure also to update the Intel Sensor driver to the newest of 3.1.0.3527. There's a known issue with the newest firmware causing a BSOD if the ISS driver is not that version or newer.

I am typing this response on an X1Y2 and I have all updates installed.  I have never seen the behavior you describe.  First, look in the event log.  Perhaps a device is having a problem entering the sleep state.

Hi richk,

I haven't had a chance to review the event log yet, but it looks like BSOD is causing the laptop to restart. For some reason, closing the lid is triggering BSOD. The error code is DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION

I am having the same problem, which occured after the latest autoinstall of Intel managment engine firmware.  I have subsequently updated all of the drivers that I can, as well as a BIOS update, and the issue persists.  The BSOD (Watchdog) appears on lid close.

I installed two updates at the same time, one of which was the intel management firmware. For now, I can avoid this problem by getting the computer to sleep before closing the lid.

The two updates:
Intel Management Engine 11.8 Firmware - 10 [64] - V.11.8.60.3561
Lenovo USB Selective Suspend Patch - 7/10 [64] - V.1.0

That did the trick! This update did not appear in Lenovo Vantage though. Someone should get on that.

Nice, glad that was it. I'm the one who reported the original sensor issue with auto-brightness not working with auto-keyboard backlight and when the fix was posted, it was noted the ISS driver needed also updated. The fix was released with the ME firmware and it was noted that the new firmware needed the newer ISS driver to fix a BSOD issue. It was also noted that they are a bit behind in the posting of drivers right now due to the holidays, so I'm sure the newest ISS driver will eventually get onto Vantage when things get caught up.
