X1Y2 is not detecting external monitors

I've tried restarting the laptop, checking for updates, uninstalling and reinstalling the grpahics driver. I've confirmed that the cables work with other devices. I have a monitor and projector that I've confirmed to be working with other devices. The X1Y2 is still unable to detect them. I plug in the HDMI cable, and nothing happens. I press 'detect' in display settings but it doesn't detect anything. I use the F7 key to switch between extend, duplicate, and second screen only, but nothing happens. This issue persists when I try the HDMI port and also when I use the USB C port with a USB C to HDMI cable. 

 

Any ideas or suggestions for me? Is there some additional troubleshooting process I should try?

Hi Aiych,

 

Let's perform a power drain to refresh your laptop and clear out any excess static energy.

1. Disconnect all peripherals (if any), like USB devices, etc.
2. Press and hold the power button for at least 10 seconds.
3. Unplug the charger.
4. Press and hold again the power button for another 10 seconds.
5. Reconnect the charger to the laptop, if possible, plug it directly to wall outlet.
6. Press the power button to turn on.

 

Please launch the Lenovo Vantage and run the system update to scan for the latest drivers and BIOS. You can download the Lenovo Vantage here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/lenovo-companion/9wzdncrfj4mv. You can watch this video on getting the latest drivers and BIOS With Lenovo Vantage https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/videos/vid500028. Or, manually install the BIOS and Chipset update from our support website https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/ (enter your serial number and go to the Drivers & Software tab). After installing all the updates, please restart your laptop.
