I can, but my laptop can't ![]()
When my new X200 has been in sleep mode for a longer period of time, (>10 min) It won't wake up.
I haven't noticed if it happened every time, but last time the fan came on, but the half moon status led was still lit, and nothing else happened.
Each time it has happened, the screen doesn't turn on and nothing happens, whatever I press. I have been forced to hold down the power button until the laptop has turned off.
I got a tip from a support worker (my space-key had started squeeking within a week) that I should install the latest fingerprint-reader software. The problem was that I already had the latest version.
Has anybody else experienced this, and maybe got a solution?

I have a similar problem - X200 - XP Pro SP3 - when I "lock" the computer and leave it overnight, I get the "This computer is locked press cntrl-alt-del" I do that and instead of a login screen I get the background screen with no title bar or icons. Only solution is to turn off the machine and restart. I have hibernation turned off. I have standby turned off. I have it shut down hard drive after 5 hours. Network back-up and virus scans still run in the early morning hours without problems.
Getting a little annoying to have to shut the machine down when I want to use it.

I have exactly the same fault in the wild. X200 - XP Pro - SP3. It appears that the issue occurrs when the computer is resumed after having "powered down the hard drive" whilst locked and on-screensaver. When you wake it back up again it just brings up a blank background but does not bring up the Ctrl-Alt-Delete screen so that you can log back in. The only way I've found so far to bring the computer back to life without restarting is to RDP to the laptop , and log in as the currently logged in user. This forces the "Computer is locked - press control-alt-delete to unlock" to display on the laptop screen, and after disconnecting that session on whichever machine you've used to RDP to the computer you can sucessfully log back in locally to the machine itself. Great news if you have a networks worth of machines around all on the same domain and configured for remote access. Not such good news if this is the only machine that you've got.
Anyone got any ideas?

No sure if this would help you. I had a couple of T400 and experience the same irritating problem until i have downloaded and installed the latest (3.2.0.275) Fingerprint software, in the BIOS, set the fingerprint reader to internal only. so far so good... no more "half awake" without the login prompt.

Genius andylee_sy.
I had to upgrade, uninstall, reset security chip from bios and then reinstall the updated fingerprint software, but that appears to have done the trick.
Thanks

I don't know if this is the same problem but here it is:
Sometimes when I leave my X200 to go to standby, it goes to "half asleep" (best phrase I could find). The hardrive is still running (I see the little cylinder light on the lower left of the screen flashing and the wireless light is also on). The little moon light is NOT on. However, the screen is completely dark as if either it is in screensaver mode or asleep (my screen saver is set on "Blank/None"). I try to move the mouse to wake the CPU so that the screen turns on but I don't get any response. I tried Escape and Alt+Ctr+Dlt but they don't seen to turn on the screen and show me the login screen. The only solution is to press and hold the power button to turn CPU off manually and to turn in on again.

sandylee_sy and others,
How do set up the fingerprint reader to "internal"? What does this really mean? I tried updating the latest fingerprint reader version, but I already have the latest. Any other suggestions? I don't know how to really deal with the Bios so if you guys could help me with the details that would be great.

Lenovo just came-out with a new BIOS update. Try updating the BIOS and it may fix the issue:

Hi,
My x200s can wakes up, but sometimes it takes too much time, 15 seconds to one minute. I was hoping that BIOS update will solve this problem (acc.to Summary of Changes)
But updating BIOS to 3.11 (from 3.05) didn't take any affect on my system. Nothing changed.
Has somebody any experience on this?

Andrey
