X200 - Loud Spacebar

2010-01-30, 2:43 AM

Just got my X200 this week and so far I love it. But one minor thing I've noticed is that the spacebar is much more clicky than the rest of the keys. I'm just wondering if this is how all of these keyboards are, or if there is something wrong with mine. Anyone else notice this?

Hi pdxrita

I guess that's normal. As the space bar is the biggest key on the keyboard, therefore it makes the most noise. Happens to my W520 or my standard desktop keyboard. Perhaps, you can press the spacebar softer so it would not be so loud.

Cheers! :smileyvery-happy:

Lol. You made me hit my spacebar.
And yes, it is much louder than any other key...
I rather like it though. Makes it sound like Im working harder!

there are 2 spring underneath the longgggggg spacebar. The smaller keys dont have.

Keys such as Shift, enter, backspace all have springs. If you pry out the keys, see if some of these springs are rusty or have hair stuck to it. Clean these with the recommended lenovo procedure....

You might also find that the pastic legs that is giving the 'push' and cushioning of these keys are displaced, hence when you press down, there is no buffer and hence more 'click'. Align the legs backs...
