X201 Wireless problem

2015-03-07, 11:57 AM

Hi,

i just formatted my x201 to fresh install Win 7 Pro x64. factory default was 32 bit.

i can not enable wireless adapter. i installed every driver related but it doesnt work. just  LAN ethernet cable enabled. i can connect to internet with ethernet cable only, not wireless.

i installed Intel wireles LAN (11abgn, 11bgn, 11ac)  driver and Thinkpad 11bgn wireless LAN mini-PCI Express Adapter II

it works when i restore factory default windows recovery disk but it doesnt work when i fresh install win 7 pro x64.

when i check device manager, it shows Other devices - Network Controller not installed or enabled.

could you please tell me how can i fix this?

i dont think it has a hardware problem because it works with 32 bit also i tried win 10 tech preview.

Thanks

If you press Fn+F5, does the Wireless Radios dialog come up?

Hi ColonelONeill,

now i have installed intel centrino advanced-n 6200  driver manually. ( device property > search for drivers in local drive and found it there) . application doesnt install automatically.

it didnt show up wireless in fn-f5 dialog. only shows bluetooth.

it is weird that it works with system default windows and ubuntu but not fresh installed x64 win 7.

priority,

what wireless adapter is installed actually? You can clarify its p/n and description by laptop s/n here:
support.lenovo.com/us/en/ibasepartslookup

Or provide unknown network controller's identificators:
double click on the item in the Device manager, Details tab, Property list, Hardware ID. Copy-past here the values in the field Value.

For Intel 6200 laptop doesn't need Thinkpad 11bgn wireless LAN mini-PCI Express Adapter II you mentioned above as that one isn't intended for Intel's adapter. Different cards drivers might conflict with each other and don't allow adapter to work properly.

I hope you installed the following drivers:
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-x201/downloads/DS030245

Nevertheless, why don't you use ThinkVantage System Update app for driver installation?

I'd suggest to remove every wlan card driver related item, reboot laptop and discard driver installation, install and launch TVSU and follow that app. Perhaps there is something.missed in your system.
