X201 keyboard cleaning?

2012-12-05, 9:51 AM

Long story short. I had purchashed a new keyboard for my x201 thinkpad. Some beer/liquor has spilled on a few keys and it seeped down to the joints. I was wondering what a good way to clean one of these keyboards can be?

Has anyone ever cleaned one? I can take it off the laptop and maybe dab some alcohol with a Q-tip between some of the keys.

Does anyone else have a different way?

any input would be GREATLY appreciated

thanks in advance.

Try some 99% (or better) isopropyl alcohol. You can order some 99.9% from Amazon. It's great for cleaning all electronics and is safe for plastics. Spray or pour some on the area of the contamination, dry thoroughly and you should be fine. Be sure to remove the keyboard from the laptop first and use proper precautions with the alcohol as it is highly flammable. Good luck.
