X220 4286CTO Centrino Ultimate 6300

Good day All,

I recently got my X220 4286CTO,with the following relevant specs for my question.

12.5" Premium HD (1366x768) LED Backlit Display, IPS, Mobile Broadband Ready, 3x3 Antenna, No Camera

Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 AGN

BIOS: 1.28

I have a 450mbs capable router and would like to swap the intel 6205 card for an Intel Centrion 6300 card (which was not an available choice upon customizing). My uncertaintiy is that I'm not sure if it is compatible., I have read mixed responses on many forums. I would only assume it would be as the 3x3 as per the 3x3 confiuration of the screen. I really would not want to flash BIOS with a haked version to remove a whitelist restriction.

I am running a 6300 WiFi card in my 4286-CTO (which was configured at purchase time), so as long as you have a Lenovo supplied 6300 card, you shouldn't have any problems.

Cheers,

Bill

Re: X220 4286CTO Centrino Ultimate 6300

I wasn't able to order a 6300 card when I ordered my X220 a year ago. the 6205 was the top choice... Any idea why?

I do, but I remember de-selecting the camera and choosing the 3x3 display option, and the 6300 was not available to order.

Re: X220 4286CTO Centrino Ultimate 6300

i am not sure, for a brief time period this also happened on the Lenovo website, then it changed.

I think for special discounts model (at least in Australia) they offer less options to keep their inventory level down and therefore the overall purchase price down.

Oh, interesting. I did order with a EPP + discount code I found on some forums.

Oh well, no big deal.
