X220 Compatibility with "65W Adapter with USB Hub" 57Y4600 and availability from Lenovo

2012-04-01, 12:12 PM

I just bought an X220 and it will arrive in a few days. I am interested in getting a 65W AC Adapter with USB Hub (57Y4600) to set up at home and use the standard 65W adapter for traveling.

1) The 65W adapter with USB Hub is listed in the ThinkPad X220 Top Options and also on the X220 Tech Spec sheet. But when I look at the technical data for the 57Y4600 it does not list the X220. Are they compatible both in terms of voltage, amperage and connector size?

2) Are the three USB ports on the 65W Hub that are linked to the laptop - are they powered by the Hub itself or do they draw power from the single laptop USB and therefore might not be fully powered? If they are not powered by the 65W adapter then I might as well buy a stand alone USB hub.

3) I have searched the Lenovo web site and I can not find a 57Y4600 for sale anywhere. Is it discontinued? I have found them on the Lenovo Outlet site ("refurbished" with very little warranty) and on Amazon - but it seems those on Amazon and other sites may not be Lenovo OEM. I would prefer to buy a new one from Lenovo to be assured of quality so as to protect my new X220.
