X220 PC312800 (DDR3 1600Mhz) memory Compatibility

2013-05-29, 11:07 AM

Hi all,

I have a Thinkpad X201 (3249-CTO) with an Core i7 Processor and 4Gb memory (2x2Gb).

I'he recieved and 8Gb (2x4Gb) Corsair Vengance PC3-12800 Memory (DDR3 1600Mhz) and want to use it on this notebook.

I tryied to install, but the OS wouldn't boot up.

I think that it could be some incompatibility between the processor and the memory, but i'm not shure of that.

So, first question is: This memory works with this notebook?

Second question: If it doesn't, there is any way i can setup memory bus on the notebook BIOS to do a downgrade on the memory so it could work (downgraded)?

Thanks.

the problem with the Corsair brand ram on the ThinkPads are a known problem. Try a different brand of ram.
