I noticed that the Intel Centrino N1000 in my X220 does not do Bluetooth so this means my rig has a separate solution.
So I was wondering, once I get a witelist free BIOS, what options can I use to modernize my machine?
The latest is Bluetooth 5 and there are not even any USB models on the street yet.

Having done a lot of research I have identifed 2 part numbers of bluetooth daugher cards that can retrofit many models of thinkpads to Bluetooth 4
This includes the X220 which is the focus of this thread.
Given that others have sucessfully installed the upgraded the bluetooth daughter board, I ordered one up for $8 and when it arrives I will disect my machine and install it
I have also identifed that drivers may not be on the windows dvd, but they are on windows update
I updated my review with the new information in the hope that everyone can enjoy their machine for several more years.
I upgraded my X220 with a 480GB SSD so it is now ready for work with a big boost in speed.
