I'm surprised I haven't seen more positive comments posted here on the X220. I was hoping there would be more people who are happy with their laptop. But then, I know people without problems usually don't check forums.

A belated welcome to the forum,

I think you sum it up pretty well as to why there are not so many positive posts in forums. Please allow me to point you at a post in another forum, notebookreview, from someone with a similar take on the issue.

Thanks guys, for the positive comments on the X220. Even if the throttling is an issue (assuming they'll fix it at some point), I doubt it will be a serious concern, since gaming is way down the list of priorities for the X220 (and I don't see myself running OCCT for kicks). I'll just see what the fans are like, but not too concerned.

Thanks, andyP - I found the NBR thread earlier this morning.

I've lots of experience on other computer forums, and every new release brings lots of "sky is falling" posts, so I understand that they are not necessarily representative. BUT - thank goodness for the folks who do post their issues and push the machines to the limit. It helps us all get faster fixes from the manufacturers.

As I've posted on the throttling thread, we are working on a fix for that issue.

Thanks, Ken.

Let me say that I am happy this morning. My X220 arrived this morning (after shipping yesterday morning from China). I ordered 5/28 and had a 6/15 shipping date.

Easy setup, love the look and feel of the laptop. Everything's working peachy. So far only setup and surfing, but no evidence of a fan issue. I'll be fine waiting for a fix on the throttling issue.

Hi shazza!

Feel free to mark the post which best answered your original question as the solution (it can be one of your own posts). It's under Options>Accept as Solution.

USB-C: Just cos it fits don't mean it works.

4.50 min mark: http://www.mobiletechreview.com/notebooks/Lenovo-ThinkPad-X220.htm

The X220 should be fast enough for a hobby user. If you want to use it flatout for hours sure it's going to heat up faster than a bigger body. Still believe the power will be fast enough for some hobby users.
