Re: X220 wifi problems

what wifi do you have? if you have the Intel 1000 Wifi Link (Thinkpad Wi-fi) this is common, the wifi drivers for that piece of hardware is absolute junk.

I'd uninstall the drivers and reinstall the latest ones to see if that helps

vlangs,

I have that wifi card, Intel Centrino 1000. There is no problem with card or drivers.

Re: X220 wifi problems

I think this issue is power management (saving) related. I don't know exactly how to do that in win 8 but look at this setting within device manager or smthg like that.

Re: X220 wifi problems

Hello,

Perhaps the wireless adapter is being suspended during hibernation in order to save power and not being reinitialized properly.  Have you tried disabling power management for the wireless adapter under Windows 8?

Here's one way to do this under Windows 8:

  1. Click on Winkey+R to bring up the run dialog and enter NCPA.CPL as the name of the program to launch and press Enter.  The Network Connections Control Panel Applet will appear.

  2. In the Network Connections Control Panel Applet double-click on the entry for the wireless adapter.  The wireless adapter's Status dialog will appear.

  3. In the wireless adapter's Status dialog, click on the Properties button.  The wireless adapter's Properties dialog will appear.

  4. In the wireless adapter's Properties dialog, click on the Configure button.  The wireless adapter's Configuration dialog will appear.

  5. In the wireless adapter's Configuration dialog, click on the Power Management tab.

  6. On the Power Management tab, de-select (un-check) the Aallow the computer to turn off this device to save power option.

  7. Click on the OK button to commit the change

At this point, the wireless adapter should not be dropped into any odd power saving states any more.  Does this make any difference when you now hibernate the X220?
