Re: X220 with USB3.0, no mSata SSD possible ?

2011-07-20, 20:17 PM

I think i might know what my problem is as to why its still not recognizing the drive. My red and blue cables are not 'connected'. Can anyone point me to where those two cables are going and/or send me a screenshot?

Those are antennae, they aren't supposed to connect to your hard drive.

Perfect timing!  I had been waiting for a fix before I ordered an mSATA SSD, just ordered an Intel 310 80GB from Newegg.

Thank you Lenovo!

Re: X220 with USB3.0, no mSata SSD possible ?

After updating BIOS to 1.19, Renice 120GB K3VLAR 50mm still fails to boot on 4286 CTO.

The mSata led light blinks only once when the power is switched on. And the computer hangs at Thinkpad logo.

Pressing ThinkVintage key, F1 or F12 does not response at all. I have to turn off the computer and unplug mSata to restore normal boot process.

Does anyone have better luck with this mSata?  I don't understand why Renice claims to be compatible with Thinkpad at all.

Very disappointed. :(

4286-CTO and Renice X3 120GB SSD (RCM120-PX3M).

Flashed to BIOS 1.19. My computer now stalls on the BIOS start-up screen (F1 doesn't work, hard disk light on constantly). I tried removing the primary hard disk, no luck. I can bypass with ThinkVantage button and boot USB but the mSATA SSD drive is not recognised in Windows install. Removed the mSATA SSD - no problem booting. So there is some progress compared to <1.19 but still doesn't work.

An official response from Lenovo as to whether I should buy the Intel 310 SSD or  whether they be releasing another BIOS upgrade to address this issue would be very much appreciated.

Kind regards,

Mike

Betreff: X220 with USB3.0, no mSata SSD possible ?

2011-07-21, 11:17 AM

Hi,

I guess I have the same mSATA SSD problem here with my X220t tablet pc. Does anyone know whether there is a plan to release a new BIOS for the X220t as well?

Best regards

Thies

X220 and X220t use the same BIOS.  You can find the link to BIOS version 1.19 that solves the mSATA problem in this thread.

have the same issue. Its not exactly hanging. It just takes forever to boot up. Interestingly enough, after it boots, windows seems to be ok.
