X230 BIOS Update Package problem

Downloading the 2.74 BIOS version for the X230, despite having a 64-bit folder, the package is missing WINUPTP64.EXE and I cannot update in 64-bit WindowsPE.

Taking another WINUPTP64.EXE from an X250 bios package failed with unrecognised model.

WHy is this 64 bit file missing from the BIOS package? I cannot run the WINUPTP.EXE version, as it says not compatible with the OS.

Is this a mistake by Lenovo to miss out this 64-bit file to flash the BIOS of an X230 in a 64bit OS?

Any answers much appreciated.

Re: X230 BIOS Update Package problem

After looking at the BIOS files (image below), the WINUPTP.exe file acts like a universal container and detects the architecture & version of Windows you're running and runs the specific WinFlash app (32bit or 64bit) to flash the BIOS.

If you're looking to update the BIOS outside Windows, have you  considered running the Bootable CD version?
