I have a brand new x230 thinkpad that blue screens anytime windows is shutdown or restarted.

The error is


STOP 0X0000003B


I've applied all windows updates and all lenova updates including power managment tools.

Please look at the Microsoft link below about an IEEE 1394 issue


Also another post implicated the video driver.


If this is truly a brand new system, consider doing a full reimage back to factory specs and check.


I had an X230 which had an number of "stopped working" errors (Lenovo, Microsoft and Apple to blame for that), but never a blue screen.

Installed the latest video driver, the recommended hotfix was reported as being not applicable when I tried to run it.

The blue screen with the same stop code still occurs.  The laptop gave a blue screen the first time it was restarted, though there might have been some updates applied, however that could be a long tedious road if it is in fact a windows update that affected it.

Attempts to access the hotfix at result in:

"This hotfix has been discontinued. Instead, you can upgrade to Windows 10 and get the most up-to-date security and other features built right in."
