X230 - Can't change Bios setting (video included)

My x230 cannt change anything in BIOS, Im not sure since when, but I think it happen after I update the BIOS. Here is the version (copy from system information)

BIOS Version/Date LENOVO G2ET95WW (2.55 ), 7/9/2013

And here is the video describes the problem

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNLD_14rWeM

what I did is:

1: power on the computer

2: hit enter, then F1 to enter bios.

3: enter a blank password (before, with the old bios, I didnt set any password, so it hadnt asked me for password), I dont know why without password, it still asks ?

4: try to nagivate the menu, but can only nagivate to folders, all fields where have settings can't be selected. When I tried to press Enter, it sounded BEEP.

Anyone know about this ?

You have a supervisor (BIOS) password set. The BIOS is set to allow you to see the settings, but not change them

Re: X230 - Can't change Bios setting (video included)

do you mean blank password is just a supervisor password ? So there must be an administrator password which I dont know ? If that is true, so some one had set an admin password ? But I know that no one except me has touch my computer since the BIOS setting can be changed.

I dont know the reason why, but I wonder if there is any way to reset BIOS memory, erase all Passwords ?

Re: X230 - Can't change Bios setting (video included)

BIOS password is the same as an administrative password. It is not blanks. The blanks allow you to see but not change the settings. The "fix" is to remember the password or replace the motherboard

@bean2604...

Rich's comment is spot-on.

You may wish to download your Hardware Maintenance Manual:

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/guides-and-manuals/detail.page?DocID=UM014928

and review the Password section for applicable information.
