X230 SD Card Reader not working

2015-07-13, 17:29 PM

I own a ThinkPad X230. I have windows 8.1 (64bits) , bios version 2.64.

When I insert a SD card in the slot, nothing happens, my computer doesn't detect it. I've already checked, and the SD Card Slot is enabled in the Bios settings. When I download the Ricoh driver from the Lenovo support page for my computer, and installed it properly, it won't make any difference. The device doesn't appear in the IDE ATA/ATAPI folder in Device Manager.

I need a solution

Hi Miguelmzbi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

Uninstall the RICHO from Control panel – Program & feature option and then reboot the system, after that go to BIOS set the BIOS to factory default by pressing F9 key & F10 to save and exit.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Hemanth Kumar

Hi Miguelmzbi, Thank you for the reply! I think the issue might be with the hardware, can you check running LSC hardware scan may be it should show some message on that. If the scan does not show any error then I suggest you to visit nearby authorized service center for further assistance. Regards Hemanth

miguelmzbi,

any chance SD card manufacturer is SanDisk? If so, try another vendor.

x220 • Gobi 2000 3g | hdd, msata ssd, wwan, wifi, gps -- unique hand-made config
ThinkPad 25 Special Anniversary Edition. #Retro. Signed by D.Hill

ThinkPad Stack • 2.4/5 Wireless Router, HDD 1 TB, BT Speaker, Power Bank, Mobile Projector

The manufacturer is Panasonic. The hardware scan give did not shiw any kind of error message.
Today I was using my laptop and suddenly it recognized the card, after 2 days of being in the card slot. I took it out and reinsert it, but nothing happened.
