X240 - How do I make my Bluetooth adapter available?

2018-03-27, 12:52 PM

How do I make my Bluetooth adapter available - X240

(I am using Windows 7 Pro 64)

I have just replaced the motherboard in a Lenovo ThinkPad X240

I have noticed that Bluetooth is no longer working.

I attempted to reinstall the Bluetooth 20.20.0.2 Device manager 20.20.0 Control Panel (giww15ww.exe) & & hotkey software (n1qvub3w.exe) and Realtek Bluetooth Manager (giwb07ww.exe)

At the end of the attempted realtek Bluetooth manager install I am advised to plug in the device (I don't as it should be onboard) and click continue the install stops because it is not installed on your system so it fails.

In Control Panel >> System >> Device Manager there is no Bluetooth Radio nor is there Bluetooth under >> Network Adapters.

Bluetooth is enabled in Bios >> Security >> I/O

Accessories >> System Tools >> System Information >> System Summary >> Components >> Network >> Adaptor shows that the device is Installed, but not available. (see below for details)

Question? Please, advise as to how do I make it available?

Thanks!

Welcome to the Community

Wtat's the laptop MTM code?
Are there unknown devices in Device manager?
Is the OS preinstalled, installed from the scratch or some "optimized" image?
Did you use Lenovo System Update for drivers and updates installation?

Hello X220forme, thank your for the welcome

  • if an MTM = M/T Model cmd.exe WMIC gives Product: 20ALEY438T
  • As far as I can see there is nothing labelled as an unknown devices in Device Manager, but if there is or not -- I couldn't say for sure.
  • The OS was imaged from previous installs and was on the SSD. It was plugged in and worked without any other fuss except Windows Activation...  but Microsoft has assisted with swapping out the old key for a new key.
  • I use lenovo System Update and it reports nothing currently to update.

Unfortunately, I couldn't figure out the laptop specification (to make sure which BT radio is there), there might be a typo in the MTM, at least two last symbols ishould be a country code, while there is a number "8" instead. Probably, the laptop's serial number might help. If you wish, send it me via the forum private messages service.

OK! Thank you, did as you suggest -- uninstal and instal the drivers for the device -- and it's now visible. Thank you again!
