X240 - Slightest shock to frame results in scrambled screen!

2016-11-02, 16:13 PM

This is what happens when the frame of my X240 receives the slightest shock. It could be something as light as a pen falling on it, or simply lifting the notebook up to move it to a new location. Everything works perfectly fine as long as the X240 is used anywhere without getting moved around. After it has happened, the only way to resolve it is to turn off the notebook via the power button and restart.

I have isolated the "shock-sensitive" area to the area left of the trackpad, below the windows button. Any explanation for this? Any solutions? Thanks a lot for reading!

I opened it up, removed the RAM chip, and reinserted it. That resolved it. Apparently it had been loose. Never had an issue anymore since then. Hope that helps.
