X240 disabled WWAN port

Hello everyone,

I recently bought a refurbished X240 and wanted to install a M.2 SSD on the WWAN slot. I tried with a working M.2 42mm SSD but it is not detected by Windows or BIOS.

I contacted seller and he tells me the manufacturer sometime disable the ability for WWAN slot to be used as SSD slot. I seriously doubt about it because I can't find anything saying that, can it be true ?

I already tried to disable and enable the WWAN slot in BIOS menu and nothing changes. So I think the problem is defective product.

Thanks for your help
