X240 won't boot on Win10 clean install

2018-04-25, 10:08 AM

Hi All,

I got this X240 from my old company, running a preinstalled Windows 7 Pro on 128Gb SSD. I wanted to upgrade the disk and bought a 240Gb SSD and a license for Windows 10. Mounted the disk, booted on a usb and did a clean install. No problems on the installation but when I reboot an error occours.. "Windows cannot start.." file..  \windows\system32\windload.exe. "status" 0xc000000f.. "the application or operation system couldn't loaded because a required file is missing or contains errors"

I updated the BIOS and loaded defaults..and disabled "secure boot"  as i suspect this is where the problem is..What worries me is an entry on the main page of the BIOS.. "Preinstalled OS License" "0B98417 Pro"

(I tried the installation on an X220.. no problem.. )

Any ideas, would be appreciated. Thanks..
