I am very sorry, but I advice You to forget this idea. There are most likely going to be some imcopatibilities in BIOS, and if not so, then some differences with the shape of the keyboard / trackpad connector. Plus you would need to replace the whole keyboard bezel.
My opinion is based on the same glitch with old X200 and X201 - many people asked if X200 can be backwards upgraded with touchpad - it can be definitely not (afaik).
Nobody can mark your question as impossible until first X250's arrive, but in your case I would hurry selling your X240 unit. Sooner you do it, you will get more paid for it... (believe me, you have my best sympathy, but I am in much more huge trap - what shall I my X220 change for?? :-) )

When the x30 and x40 series came out for the T and W machines, people asked the same about the old keyboard and mouse. the answer there was no, since the connector, design and BIOS mappings were completely different. My guess is that at least the design of the bezels are different different, so it would be likely impossible to move the keyboard and mouse to the older machine.

Replacing the hardware is absolutely grueling, as you will have to take your laptop apart entirely to get to the keyboard bezel. Only attempt this if you're capable and disciplined with hardware repairs. Better yet, ask a Lenovo service company to replace it for you.
I used the drivers from the thread linked to in this thread and it works like a charm.
Costs: ~100USD for the replacement bezel.

How did you get the trackpad off the bezel? I took the entire laptop apart even the grey cover that is glued the belly of the palmrest. I cant get the x240 trackpad off. How did you do this? I see a metal plate that is covering it.

On a different note, this is by far the best trackpad I have ever used. I can only recommend any x240 owner to replace the current abomination with this next generation trackpad/point. The engineers who made the x240 input devices should be fired on the spot. Un-freaking-believable that they actually pushed this piece of junk to market in the first place.
