Good day,

I assume when you shut down, you tried selecting shutdown from the windows menu.

Did you try holding down the power button until it shutsdown?

also, you might want to try this

On desktop, right click, new, shortcut, enter this "C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /s /f /t 0", name it whatever you wish. it would create an icon on your desktop, doubleclick it to shut down your laptop

Hope this helps

Re:X250 unable to shutdown

Hi, I have just started to experience the same problem. The laptop won't fully shutdown, the fan continues to run and the power button is flashing.

I have tried the following:

- Pulled the bios battery

- Swapped the ram

- Done a full windows reinstall

- Updated the bios and all drivers

- Used the command line (per the post above)

Still no luck. Has anyone else found a solution for this problem or am I looking at a dead motherboard?

Hello YVR Guy,

Welcome to Lenovo Community

I suggest that you go to BIOS, load default settings, then save and exit.

You may also try hard reset.

Thanks for replying.

I had tried the bios reset, but still no luck. The laptop appears to shutdown but sometimes the fan will stay on and battery continues to drain.

Any other suggestions?

Hello YVR Guy,

Have you tried to disable fast startup?
To disable Fast Startup, head to Control Panel > System and Security > Power Options > Choose What the Power Button Does. Click the “Change settings that are currently unavailable” link at the top of the window, uncheck the “Turn On Fast Startup (Recommended)” option under Shutdown Settings, and then click the “Save Changes” button.

Then try shutting down the computer
