I am still having the exact same issues hoever only once a day. I have escalated the issue to Lenovo's complaint department. We'll see what comes out of it.

Just to say, am still seeing the problem as well. Probably once a week now I am seeing it. Can't get a handle on when it occurs to see if there is a pattern.

Since my problems started after updating the storage manager (with ThinkVantage System Update), I tried reinstalling the older version of that driver (Intel Matrix Storage Manager v8.5.0.1032, downloaded from the intel website). This was on around 12-20-2008. I haven't got a similar crash since then (which is definitely a sign of improvement if not solution).

It look me about 6 weeks of trying and insisting, but I got mine replaced and have had no problems with new one. I assume there was either a hardware defect or a bad preload image.

Re: X301 XP BSOD with iastor.sys

I followed the very simple instructions to roll back the Intel software found in the link, and have not had a crash since that time (since the poster posted -- 31 January). I think this does it.

Thanks!

You could all narrow down the culprit causing the issue by looking at the MEMORY.DMP  file that is written everytime you get a BSOD or RANDOM Reboot.

To read the .DMP file you will need to install microsoft debugger and the symbols that match your OS (xp or vista, etc)

Re: X301 XP BSOD with iastor.sys

Any resolution to this problem found yet ? I received 3 X301 2776-P6U laptops Loaded XP from the CD and downloaded the driversincluding newest Bios from Lenovo.

I have the Intel Matrix Driver 8.8.0.1009 which is a much newer version then all of the responses in this post and I have the same issue on all 3 laptops.

The Istor error appears in the event log at least twice a day and mulitple daily BSOD.

Any help would be appeciated...thanks !

I had this issue as well before and then I installed version 8.6.3.1004 (which is what is running now) and it went away. I have the x301 2776-p6u as well, loaded with XP
